Beads have fascinated and captivated people for thousands of years. Their beauty, depth, and colour demanding investigation by the eye.

The beads you will see here on these pages have been made by me in my little studio on Dartmoor in Devon.

The glass I use is mainly Effetre. My beads are made by winding hot glass onto steel mandrels. Once this is done the beads are kiln annealed for durability. Annealing beads in a kiln stabilises the glass to remove stresses caused by the cooling process. Once the beads have been annealed they are cleaned to ensure their holes are free of bead release and have smooth edges.

Because these beads are handmade each bead is unique, it may look similar to other beads in a set but there will be subtle differences.

The jewellery that you create with these beads will be one of a kind.
